“Queen Sugar,” is baaaack, I so love this show, Oprah Winfrey has outdone herself with her OWN network and aligning herself with today’s top drama series and creators.
Created by Ava DuVernay the series returned Tuesday night for the second half of its second season. Nothing good is on Tuesday nights, this is the best time and time slot for this hit drama series.
Queen Sugar begins with the Bordelon siblings, their father Ernest Bordelon dies but leaves behind an inheritance: a sugarcane farm. I never knew that black families back in the day owned sugarcane farms so for me this is learning at its best. I love to read about my history, the sugarcane farms was something I never knew about so I thank Ava DuVernay and Oprah Winfrey for telling this story. Its important that we all know where we came from and how hard it took us to get where we are today.
The youngest brother, Ralph Angel, wants to work the land, he’s had some trouble in his past but with this sugarcane farm he inherited, he is trying to right some wrongs and raise his son Blue. The middle-child, half-sister Charley, dreams of being the first African-American woman to own a sugar mill. She was once married to a NBA player who was caught on tape with a stripper, they have a teen aged son together and she is starting over after leaving her cheating husband. And then there is Nova, she’s the writer and doesn’t take any of your bull sh$t. These siblings may fight but they will stand in a windstorm for each other.
Anticipating this seasons world of Queen Sugar!!
Cardi B At The Grammy’s
Break out reality star Cardi B is ready for the Grammy’s!! Whatever, she puts her hands on, its a hit, she’s got the magic touch and this is her year!
The former stripper and reality star was asked what was she most looking forward to at the Grammy’s? Cardi answered, “Me, hopefully winning an award. Like what else? Like that’s all I think about to be honest.” Sounds just like a Cardi B answer to me, she holds nothing back, we love her no nonsense style, her craziness and her ability to just be real. She is also excited for her man’s group Migo’s who are also nominated.
Cardi B and Bruno Mars are expected to perform there breakout song, “Finesse,” tonight on the Grammy’s! I so love this song, it takes you back to the 90’s on the “In Living Color,” stage with her and Bruno Mars. What I love most about this song, Cardi is having so much fun, the smile on her face says it all and the connection she has with Bruno in this song is amazing, they both deserve to win!!
