From the strip clubs of New York, to becoming a social media diva, a reality star on Love and Hip New York and now one of the hardest, hit making female rappers, Cardi B signed her first major label deal with Atlantic Records earlier this year.
Her single, “Bodak Yellow” reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with the New York Times calling it “the rap anthem of the summer”. When I say Cardi wasn’t playing, she wasn’t playing. Too many people were sleeping on her but she wasn’t sleeping on herself and that’s why she is where she is today. She is what I call an inspiration to a lot of young girls, don’t let your circumstances or your surroundings prevent you from dreaming and working hard to attain those dreams.
As of today, “Bodak Yellow,” Cardi’s video for the song which is pretty interesting and has over 170,440,294 views according to several media outlets. That’s a whole lotta people watching her video, she doing the damn thing and I can’t be mad at her.
“Bodak Yellow” is a song that young girls who are coming of age can relate too, the young girls today have their Cardi B like I had my Janet Jackson. I can definitely relate to her elevation and why she’s so popular, Cardi is down to earth, she never comes at you side ways and our generation today needs someone like a Cardi B, regular people can be successful too.
Cardi said, “While I was recording it, every b-tch I don’t like came into my head.” And that is literally the effect this song has on people. I also cannot afford Louboutins, but you bet I’ll be screaming, “THESE EXPENSIVE, THESE IS RED BOTTOMS, THESE IS BLOODY SHOES” like I can. It’s just one of those songs that gets it. And everyone loves it.
Yes and Miss Jackson if your nasty loves her some Cardi B. This is what Cardi posted on her Instagram:
“I really can’t even believe this .Its soo surreal .Like ommmmmmmgggg son this the type of shit you dream about .Thank you Janet Jackson for showing Bodak Yellow some love. Im so happy.”
An alleged reliable source who works for Billboard said, “it was particularly crazy how quickly Cardi B, someone who was virtually unknown in the world of mainstream music, climbed the charts because it happened “without a meme” and “without a dance.”
Cardi B made it to the top because of who she is and not who she was trying to be. I am definitely team Cardi, watching her grow and make them money moves lets me know that anything is possible when you work hard to get it. So proud of her, yes she has haters, but who doesn’t!!
“Thank you everybody that had helped me climb the charts .Everybody have been a big help to me !!!This is crazy and new to me !!! it’s a different feeling.”
Floyd Mayweather Sues Shantel Jackson
Boxing Champ Floyd Mayweather has a filed a suit against his ex-fiancee’ Shantel Jackson who has been engaged to Nelly for the last couple of years. The champ has accused his ex of “stealing his cash and using his credit cards,” without his knowledge, so he says. I’m just a bit confused, wasn’t she his girlfriend at the time?
Its funny how the boxer who only has an eighth grade education files a lawsuit against his ex days before the lawsuit she filed for domestic abuse against him will be heard. Not too mention she filed her suit in 2014, its 2017, why did it take him years to file a suit against her if he really believed she was stealing from him? He filed this suit as a ploy to get into Shantel’s head, to confuse things and maybe get her to drop the charges.
Shantel filed her suit almost three years ago, she accused the boxer of choking her during an argument, pointing a gun at her head, posting a sonogram photo on social media accusing her of aborting their twins. We aren’t exactly sure what happened with her pregnancy, however we do know that she suffered a loss and I don’t think she aborted her twins by Floyd, again that was another way to get in her head.
“I have been embarrassed and humiliated more than I can ever imagine by Floyd,” Jackson said at a 2014 press conference with her lawyer Gloria Allred.
Shantel’s attorney Gloria Allred confirmed she was pregnant by the boxer in November 2013 and that a December sonogram revealed she was carrying twins but she was having complications. She didn’t speak directly regarding Shantel’s complications with the pregnancy and but the pregnancy ended in January the following year.
When the boxer posted the sonogram on social media and accused of her having an abortion not only did that devastate her, she was extremely hurt and embarrassed. How could he expose her privacy, her grief and her hurt to the world?
“Every woman has a right to privacy and there is no excuse for invading anyone’s privacy, especially about what is happening in one’s own body and one’s own medical records,” Gloria Allred said.
The documents that were filed by Floyd Mayweather’s attorney claims that Shantel Jackson “skillfully concealed” her ability to retrieve his personal information as well as his credit cards and cash, he also claims she would ship items to secret a location without him knowing. What woman doesn’t have or know their man’s personal information or ships items to a different location, that is not a secret location. That’s called being in a relationship and right now he is being petty.
Now he’s blaming “the school system,” because he only has an eighth grade education and that’s how Shantel was able to get over on him. Wow, he should stop, he is a grown a$$ man and he should have learned how to read before or during his relationship with Shantel. As a result, he never audited any of his accounts nor did he keep track of his cash, but whose fault is that? Someone with only an eighth grade education who has money doesn’t have an accountant? He needs to hire one ASAP.
We’ll keep you all posted on both lawsuits.
Russell Simmons Steps Down
Russell Simmons chairman and CEO of Rush Communications, he also co-founded Def Jam and created the clothing lines for Phat Farm, Argyleculture, and Tantris.
Russell Simmons was married to model Kimora Lee-Simmons, they have been divorced since January 2009, however, they have two beautiful daughters together.
Amid all of the sexual allegations that are coming forward, we were surprised to learn that Russell Simmons is now part of that group. The CEO decided to step down from all of his companies due to an article that was recently published alleging sexual misconduct.
A sexual assault claim was previously reported by model Keri Claussen Khaligi who accused Russell Simmons of “yanking off her clothes” while producer Brett Ratner watched before allegedly sexually assaulting her in a shower. She wasn’t the only woman allegedly on their radar, Tanya Reid also alleges that Brett Ratner and Russell Simmons harassed her while she worked at a South Beach hotel.
You would think with all of the money Russell Simmons and Brett Ratner have, they wouldn’t need to sexually assault anyone. Women throw themselves at them, if these allegations are true, why would either of these successful and rich men need to sexually assault anyone? Was Kimora Lee aware of her ex-husband alleged actions? He has daughters, how does he explain his behavior to his daughters? This couldn’t be the first or second time that he has allegedly sexually assaulted women or has been accused? People who were close to him or worked close with him I’m sure knew that this was going on and kept in on the low but the low ain’t working right now.
Someone else has now come out and accused Russell again of alleged sexual assault, this time it’s a woman named Jenny Lumet who just happens to be the daughter of director Sidney Lumet and the granddaughter of Lena Horne. She claims that Russell Simmons allegedly sexually assaulted her back in 1991 when she was 24 years old. He supposedly agreed to have his driver take her home but she says Russell made his driver take them back to his apartment where he allegedly sexually assaulted her even when she screamed for him to stop.
In a Hollywood Reporter guest column Jenny Lumet writes,
“At no time that night did I say: “Russell, I will go home with you”. Or, “Come home with me.” Or “I will have sex with you.” Or “I have the desire to have sex with you.”
I saw no one else. I recall you were behind me. I was still hoping the Russell I knew would reappear, as I could not recognize the man moving me deeper into the apartment — the man who had said “No” to his driver. Twice.
You moved me into a bedroom. I said “Wait.” You said nothing. I made the trade in my mind. I thought “just keep him calm and you’ll get home.” Maybe another person would have thought differently, or not made the trade.
It was dark, but not pitch dark. You closed the door. At that point, I simply did what I was told.”
Right after the article was published, that’s when Russell Simmons announced that he was stepping down from all of his companies and handing them over to a “new and diverse generation” while he works on himself. It’s bull sh$t, he stepped down after this article was published because his reputation could do damage to those companies, he was smart enough to step down and hand them over to the right people.
“I have been informed with great anguish of Jenny Lumet’s recollection about our night together in 1991. I know Jenny and her family and have seen her several times over the years since the evening she described. While her memory of that evening is very different from mine, it is now clear to me that her feelings of fear and intimidation are real. While I have never been violent, I have been thoughtless and insensitive in some of my relationships over many decades and I sincerely and humbly apologize. This is a time of great transition. The voices of the voiceless, those who have been hurt or shamed, deserve and need to be heard. As the corridors of power inevitably make way for a new generation, I don’t want to be a distraction so I am removing myself from the businesses that I founded. The companies will now be run by a new and diverse generation of extraordinary executives who are moving the culture and consciousness forward. I will convert the studio for yogic science into a not-for-profit center of learning and healing. As for me, I will step aside and commit myself to continuing my personal growth, spiritual learning and above all to listening.”
Of course his definition of what occurred between him and Jenny Lumet will vary but the fact that he never denied the allegations says a lot and he never even commented on the Brett Ratner situation or any other times where he was accused of allegedly sexually assaulting other women.
These male celebrities better watch out, these women are coming out of the woodwork. I feel for Russell’s daughters, they are the ones who will be affected by his actions the most.
